This started out as my very first model ever made in Googles Sketchup, because it was such a simple design. When I was done with the exterior, I moved on to create more complex designs, like the Brantopoz. A short while ago I had some break time to spare and started fiddling with the model again, detailing the exterior, experimenting with smoothing surfaces and creating layers. Even though I didnt even want to model another interior after the many, many hours poured into the Brantopoz interior, I couldnt resist because of the nostalgia this particular design invokes. So there you have it, not only the interior, but a more complex cockpit, a hull with thickness and even an engine compartment!
Some completely unneeded background on the design: I used to daydream a LOT when I was back in school and made up this huge alternate universe in which I was the hero (of course, what else is the point of daydreaming?). There was this huge high tech secret society that guarded the world (as best it could) against itself, but fell victim to brutal space pirate clans made up of former members fallen from grace. This particular spaceship was to be the first one that I designed and constructed myself. The Stingray was to be a sort of mix between a luxury space yacht and an agile weapons platform. In the story there a four version. The Stingray A (this one, although it didnt have the suffix A at the time), the B, which was basically a lengthened version with slightly better engines and weapons, the C which sported two ridiculous large and powerful engines in an attempt to shorten the time needed to travel from planet to planet, and last but not least the D, a complete re-design, with a bigger and more aerodynamic hull, vastly better engines, weapons & shields. That one was destroyed over the artic circle of Sweden by the vicious Black Fleet, a united army of pirates under the command of my arch nemesis Mr. Goode the bastard.
Oh yeah, the Harley was supposed to be my surface-transport, next to a small one-person submarine. I didnt feel like modeling the sub
For those who think it an ass-ugly design youre absolutely right, it IS an ass-ugly design. I made it when I was about thirteen or thirteen and my drawing skills were even worse then they are now. This was the best I could come up with at the time, okay? As I said, it was a good starting point to learn Sketchup and the designed grew more sophisticated as I grew older until I killed it off and replaced it completely. Anyway, its not part of the Nullworld universe, hence no Spinning Infinity Studios logo. Ill try and make a nice flyby movie of the model, if I get it to work with the layers and all.
Not seen this one before Very nice model... Though, if you take physics into account... I wouldn't get on board that thing and sit in the armchair... As soon as the engines fire, I'd be thrown into the cabinet at the other side of the room!

Captain: (In sitting room) Not right now! I'm watching tv."

Like the immortal dr Brown said: The way I see it, if you're gonna build a (time machine into a car) / (spaceship), why not do it with some style?
